I could always recognise her by the tattoo on her arm, a beautiful rose, and by her shiny black hair.
I always greeted her with a cheery “hello”.
I longed to see her face, but she always seemed to hide behind a pile of books.
I determined to peek behind those books.

I wish I hadn’t!

Twittering Tales #100 – 4 September 2018

Come one, come all.

Join in with the 100th Twittering Tale challenge!

Kat Myrman’s wonderful challenge to tax our creative souls is an extra special one this week.  We have to try to revert to the original 140 characters, instead of the now normal 280 characters, or fewer, to write a story based on the photo prompt. I wasn’t in at the very beginning. I think it was TT#14 before I discovered the joys of Twittering (you can see I don’t tweet in real life!) but it is now a must for me each week.

Here is this week’s prompt and my contribution which, instead of a tale, is a limerick to celebrate Kat’s birthday (at least I think that is what the picture is all about!). Check out all the fabulous entries here.

Kat is 100 it seems,
but younger by far in her dreams.
She’s really much brighter,
a hell of a writer,
and the smile on her face it just gleams!

The hunt

I really think I’ve cracked it now.

Even though I say so myself, the form of the horses is quite superb.
My painting is almost like a photograph.
I’m really pleased with the result!

It’s such a pity that I can’t paint human figures, or dogs, or saddles, reins, or stirrups.

Tally Ho!

The Rose grower’s curse.

I’ve got it again, I’m fed up!

What’s the matter now?

That horrible disease that spoiled all my roses last year is back again!

I thought you sprayed them, and cut back the worst affected.

I did, but just look. It’s on every rose and has even spread to the pavement.
Bloody black spot!

I told you not to mess with that laser gun again, now look what you’ve done. You’ve made a hole in the sky!

How are you going to explain that to your Probation Officer?

Alien space ships are falling through. That big orange one just burned straight through a double decker bus!

They sat looking at each other across the dusty table, saying nothing. The dried remains of their meal had been pecked over by crows and nibbled by squirrels and field mice. It was no longer identifiable. Nor were the hazy outlines of the lovers, shimmering forlornly in the dusk!

I do love a seaside holiday.
So do I, but not the West coast of Ireland!
You must agree there’s some fantastic scenery?
I would, if I could see it!
It’s getting lighter over there.
That’s just wishful thinking.
Oh, come on. Be more positive.
Two more pints of guinness please landlord!

Great do last night!

Was it?

Yea, I got completely legless. Had to crash out on Ben’s sofa.

Did you see me at all?

Yea. We had a chat early on and then you went off with that weirdo.

Weirdo? What weirdo?

That guy with a huge chopper!

I can’t remember a thing. Think I lost my head a bit!

The phone stood by the stream, at the edge of the wild flower meadow.
It buzzed loudly nearly every time I passed by.
Being community spirited, I always picked up the handset and said “hello?”
No-one ever answered!
Inside, The Queen and her workers were obliviously, busily buzzing!

It was the annual barbecue of the Cartographers Guild.

Being newly elected members, they were not quite sure of protocols.

They had the dress code, and a detailed plan of how to get there.

They just needed to pass the final test.

Find the red and white tent #82, with the green roof.
