Rapid rhyme #23

Not for the first time,  a post on Colleen’s marvellous CHATTER BLOG has prompted a thought that, in turn, has generated a few words that have now turned into a rapid rhyme. The post is called NOTHING WILL.

Life decides how it shall be

it can’t be left to you and me

We lack the nouse, the wherewithal

if left to us the world would fall

It’s plain as day, we play the game

In every life it’s just the same

We think ourselves in charge of us

but life knows otherwise because

we lack the nouse, the wherewithal

If left to us the world would fall.

Rapid rhyme #22

Easter Sunday, boiler’s broke

phone the gas, they send a bloke

social distance makes it hard

shout to him across the yard

Cat goes crazy, races round

scratches bloke then goes to ground

launches right across his head

goodness me I think he’s dead

Thank the Lord he’s coming round

the cat once more has gone to ground

the boiler well and truly broken

the bloke at least has now awoken!

No cats, or blokes, were hurt in the writing of this poem! The boiler, however, is crying – all over the once dry bedding and towels. Happy Easter everyone.

Rapid rhyme #20

This great entry

For King and Country!

Remember.

For freedom!

Remember.

For the security of our country!

Remember.

For the betterment of Mankind!

Worthwhile causes all.

But always remember.

What it cost.

to Rochelle’s weekly prompt, by Ali, has, in turn, prompted a rhyme by me.

Ali surprised himself by coming up with his entry at Christmas, and I surprised myself by what it generated as a pondering.

Life is full of surprises, and of hate, injustice, and sorrow, but it is also, thankfully, equally full of goodness, joy, and love.

May the latter always prevail

Those who gain

don’t feel the pain

don’t count the cost

as those who’ve lost

and families

when left to grieve

do not receive

the spoils of war

and yet there’s more

who feed the hate

and don’t relate

to those who died

and those who cried

because they lied

a sorry tale

a human fail

that’s oft repeated

by those who cheated

yet there is hope

a little scope

to find salvation

for our nation

I pray that hence

we see the sense

and save our world

with

love

Rapid rhyme #18

My cousin Kevin worked at Kew

he kept the kale well clipped

He couldn’t cut too closely though

in case his clippers slipped

He used a cutlass on the grass

as sharp as sharp could be

A fact that he regretted much

as he sliced right through his knee

Regardless, Kevin hopped around

but fell and banged his head

He rolled across the grass and then

he rolled into the bed

Alas poor Kevin is no more

succumbed to cuts too many

And if you want another verse

Well tough, there are not any!

Rapid rhyme #16

Sometimes, just sometimes, I forget that I am a compassionate and caring gentleman. This afternoon was just such an occasion.

Would it be awful if I were to say

I cannot be bothered to see you today

I really don’t care that your leg has dropped off

And couldn’t care less you’ve developed a cough

You breed just like rabbits, producing more louts

Your lifestyle’s renowned by all hereabouts

You’re on your seventh partner in only four years

I can only surmise it’ll all end in tears

Please don’t come to me to try to explain

I really don’t wish to hear you complain

It’s hardly surprising the neighbours all glare

Please don’t come to me, I really don’t care!
