Let’s hope that 2021 is the start of we humans getting things right, allowing nature to heal herself, realising that to move forward we have to co-operate rather than argue, compromise rather than stick rigidly to our preconceived ideas, love rather than hate, and help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Happy New Year to everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, even those I disagree with, even those who are bigoted, even those who hate.
“As I watched and listened, I thought, Why can’t the PW see that statistics aren’t reaching this woman? Those facts and figures don’t seem to be affecting her actual life. Even though they might be true, this woman isn’t seeing the benefit of the work being done. The PW just isn’t hearing the NEED. She’s too focused on her response that she’s not hearing the woman.”
This is so true in this particular post that I happened upon by chance, but also in todays political and social everyday life. Everyone is so intent on putting across their own view, in justifying a decision, in arguing that their way is the correct and only way, that they do not listen. They are too intent on formulating a clever response, using buzzwords that mean absolutely nothing and, in so many cases, trying to belittle, embarrass, or bully.
Please read, and enjoy, this post by Tammy Davis.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–mostly because it is a lesson I have to keep learning myself. Perception is reality. A couple weeks ago I attended an event that included a panel discussion with people presenting differing viewpoints. One woman came from an under-served neighborhood and felt abandoned by the city. She […]
Each week Helen gives us a new theme and asks us to choose music with lyrics to suit.
Sometimes it is difficult, sometimes a song comes immediately to mind. Always, it is enjoyable.
By listening to everyone’s chosen song, which you can do here, we get to hear old favourites, and music that is completely new to some of us.
This week the theme is “new“, and I’m offering two seasonal songs for your enjoyment. The first is by ABBA, and I am using them to help me wish every one of you A Happy New Year.
“Happy New Year”
No more champagne And the fireworks are through Here we are, me and you Feeling lost and feeling blue It’s the end of the party And the morning seems so grey So unlike yesterday Now’s the time for us to say…Happy new year Happy new year May we all have a vision now and then Of a world where every neighbour is a friend Happy new year Happy new year May we all have our hopes, our will to try If we don’t we might as well lay down and die You and I
Sometimes I see How the brave new world arrives And I see how it thrives In the ashes of our lives Oh yes, man is a fool And he thinks he’ll be okay Dragging on, feet of clay Never knowing he’s astray Keeps on going anyway…
Happy new year Happy new year May we all have a vision now and then Of a world where every neighbour is a friend Happy new year Happy new year May we all have our hopes, our will to try If we don’t we might as well lay down and die You and I
Seems to me now That the dreams we had before Are all dead, nothing more Than confetti on the floor It’s the end of a decade In another ten years time Who can say what we’ll find What lies waiting down the line In the end of eighty-nine…
Happy new year Happy new year May we all have a vision now and then Of a world where every neighbour is a friend Happy new year Happy new year May we all have our hopes, our will to try If we don’t we might as well lay down and die You and I
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
However, there is always lots to be thankful for. Family, friends, a warm home, good food, and YOU.
I’m really grateful for all of my followers, and for those that I follow, on WordPress.
I love the humour, the candour, the help, the advice, the comments, the really serious posts, the absolutely zany posts, the travel, the food, the photos, the recommendations. Some blogs I read every single word, some blogs I dip in and out of, some I visit infrequently. I consider you all as friends.
Thank you one and all, and may I wish you (an early) Happy New Year. I hope that 2018 brings good health, peace, contentment and as much success in your writing/blogging as you would wish.
I don’t want to place an entire year’s worth of burden on a one second time change tonight. So instead of wishing for a full happy new year, I’ll start a little smaller. I hope tomorrow that all of my friends, family, loved ones, or just kind of liked ones wake up safe and sound. […]

"If only half of the history that has happened in Nottingham had happened in some other place, that place would be famous; but because it did happen here no one knows".
