Song Lyric Sunday – April 26 2020 – Alone with The Bee Gees

song-lyric-sunday

Jim Adams’ Song Lyric Sunday gives us the chance to share familiar, and sometimes not so familiar, songs.

If you fancy sharing one of your favourite songs you can find out how to participate, and also listen to all the great entries, here.

This week the choices are all linked to the current Covid-19 situation (Alone /Confined /Depressed /Isolated /Restless /Solo), and I have chosen Alone by The Bee Gees

Alone

I was a midnight rider on a cloud of smoke
I could make a woman hang on every single stroke
I was an iron man I had a master plan
But I was alone

I could hear you breathing with a sigh of the wind
I remember how your body started trembling
Oh what a night it’s been, and for the state I’m in
I’m still alone

And all the wonders made for the earth
And all the hearts in all creation
Somehow I always end up alone

Always end up alone, always end up alone
So I’ll play, I’ll wait
‘Cause you know that love takes time

Living love between the line
We came (sha la) so close (so far)
Just the beat of a lonely heart
And it’s mine, and I don’t want to be alone

Well, since I got no message on your answer phone
Since you’re busy every minute I just stay at home
I make believe you care, I feel you everywhere
But I’m still alone

I’m on a wheel of fortune with a twist of fate
‘Cause I know it isn’t heaven is it love or hate
Am I the subject of the pain
Am I the stranger in the rain I am alone

And is there glory there to behold
Maybe it’s my imagination another story there to be told
So I play sha la, I’ll wait sha la
And I pray it’s not too late
We came (sha la) so far (so far)
Just a beat of a lonely heart and it’s mi-i-ine
And I don’t want to be alone

And all the wonders made for the earth
And all the hearts in all creation
Another story there to be told

So I’ll play I’ll wait
And I’ll pray it’s not too late
We can so far
Just the beat of a lonely heart
And it’s mine
And I don’t want to be alone
Gone but not out of sight
I’m caught in the rain and there’s no one home
Face the heat of the night
The one that you love’s got a heart that’s made of stone
Shine and search for the light
And sooner or later you’ll be cruising on your ocean
And clean out of site
I’m caught in the rain and there’s no one home

I have no problem with being alone, I quite like it. However, for those who crave the company of others, I am including a song for when we start to mingle again.

It’s from The Travelling Wilburys and is called Not Alone Anymore.

  1. Great songs, Peter…both of them!
And both groups are favorites of mine! Oh, those amazing voices!
And The Travelling Wilburys…oh, my gosh…those legends of voice and songs!
    (((HUGS))) 🙂
PS…I am very extroverted, but I do enjoy my alone-time, too.

  2. Bee Gees oh I loved them – Lots of memories.

I enjoyed Roy Orbison’s music too. But I have a confession to make, I once fell asleep during one of his Batley Variety Club shows! 🤫

  3. AHHHHH! PEEETTTEEEERRRRR! Thank You!!! This is a most awesome post extraordinaire!!! 😃I LOVE the Bee Gees and somehow had never heard that song! It’s wonderful and the video brought tears to my eyes. They were CRAZY amazing. I live on an a small island that’s quite a tourist attraction. For many years I worked at a gift/art shop in the village. The owner, a dear friend, is super cool and we got to dress as we like, listen to whatever music we wanted and it was completely cool to sing at work and to break out in spontaneous dance parties. Once in a while one of us would scream out, “Bee Gees dance party!” and on they’d come. We’d be silly whether the store was empty or crowded. The times that happened and there were people in the shop….no matter what county they were from or what age they were….pretty much everyone would start singing along and dancing! The Bee Gees span generations and the glode. Yay! AND….a double whammy! You gifted the Traveling Wilburys!!! DUDE!!! Thanks more than I can say for starting my day with a groovy overload. I’m off to do some art and You well may have influenced it! Cheers and Rock On!!! 🤗❤️😊
