Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 11/11/2018

It’s that great time of the week where Helen gives us all the chance to share our choices of music, based on her prompt. This week we have SOUL. Oh yes, we have soul! Just check out all those who are sharing their soul with you this week – HERE.

I often comment that my musical mind normally leans towards The Beatles, but I don’t often choose a Beatles song. Well, this week I am doing so, although not one with soul in the lyrics. Instead, it is from the album Rubber Soul.

Most of the songs on Rubber Soul were composed soon after the Beatles’ return to London following their August 1965 North American tour.  The album reflects the influence of their month in America.  Aside from setting a new attendance record when they played to over 55,000 at Shea Stadium on 15 August, the tour allowed the band to meet with Bob Dylan in New York and their longtime hero Elvis Presley in Los Angeles.

Here is “In My Life”

This version is the 2009 remastered one: I hope you enjoy it.

The Beatles

There are places I’ll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more
In my life– I love you more

Songwriters: John Lennon / Paul Mccartney

    1. I have, only yesterday, decided to get rid of all my vinyl LP’s. The Beatles ones will be the hardest to part with. I have the White Album complete with all inserts, along with many more, including some made in Germany!
