Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 28/10/2018

OK, I know it’s Monday. So, what if I am a little late? I can cope with that, I’m retired!

My first thought for Helen’s prompt of give/giving was to offer you I gave you all by Mumford and Sons. If you want to, you can still listen to it here.

The problem with SLS is that I tend to get carried away when researching what to offer. I end up, every week, spending time listening to loads of music when I really should be doing other things. It’s a great problem to have!!!!!!

If you want to take part, or wish to listen to all the other musical offerings, you can find everything here.

I finally settled on another Mumford and Sons song, Awake my soul – Live at Red Rocks. It doesn’t really fit in directly with the prompt, apart from the fact that the group give a fantastic performance, they really enjoy it, as do the audience, and I hope that you will too!

Awake My Soul

Mumford & Sons

How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes
I struggle to find any truth in your lies
And now my heart stumbles on things I don’t know
My weakness I feel I must finally show

Lend me your hand and we’ll conquer them all
But lend me your heart and I’ll just let you fall
Lend me your eyes I can change what you see
But your soul you must keep, totally free
Har har, har har, har har, har har

Awake my soul, awake my soul
Awake my soul

How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes
I struggle to find any truth in your lies
And now my heart stumbles on things I don’t know
My weakness I feel I must finally show
Har har, har har, har har, har har

In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love, you invest your life
In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die
And where you invest your love, you invest your life

Awake my soul, awake my soul
Awake my soul
For you were made to meet your maker
Awake my soul, awake my soul
Awake my soul
For you were made to meet your maker
You were made to meet your maker

Songwriters: Benjamin Walter David Lovett / Edward James Milton Dwane / Marcus Oliver Johnstone Mumford / Winston Aubrey Aladar Marshall
